For a PSTN dialup modem there is definitively no ethernet address. See RFC1662 (PPP) where it shows that packets are transmitted in HDLC frames.
For a ADSL modem there might be depending on how its implemented. Note: ADSM modems using ethernet hardware often use PPPoE which is the PPP authentication mechanism used on Ethernet whereas the "data" is native Ethernet. PPPoE is not used on dialup (as there is no ethernet).
You can verify this if you type "ifconfig".
If your interface shows up with something like tis:
en3: flags=8963<UP,BROADCAST,SMART,RUNNING,PROMISC,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 inet6 fe80::210:32ff:fe54:7698%en3 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x9 inet 192.168.2.101 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 192.168.2.255 ether 00:10:32:54:76:98 <<<<<<--------------------------- media: autoselect status: active supported media: autoselect
then you have a MAC address (alias Ethernet Address). On firewrie for example it shows lladdr (local lnk address) which is some kind of pseudo ethernet address.
