NETLINK like APIs to monitor NIC activity

  • Subject: NETLINK like APIs to monitor NIC activity

hi All,

I am writing an application that monitors the status of existing NICs on the system, and also for NICs that appear and disappear.

I know that System Configuration Framework provides a nice mechanism for this. I was curious to know if there was something more lowlevel, such as the PF_NETLINK sockets on Linux ?

thanks,
Nithin
