What do you mean by client-side? Do you using client-side certs (which aren't required for normal https traffic), or do you just mean using SSL in a client application?

I am not sure if client side certs are supported in the CFNetwork that ships with the iPhone. However usage of SSL from client applications is definitely supported, using both CFNetwork and higher level APIs.

Yes, I mean client-side certs. I'm sorry of I wasn't clear. I need to support them for a particular application (the provider wants to be _really_ sure of the authenticity of the client).

Server-side certificates are, as has been said, practically a no-op in the higher-level APIs.
