What is not clear to me is your target environment. Whenever you
start talking multicast, you need to make that clear. It matters a

Honestly, I just need an app that I can use on my WLAN. I'm on the
second floor of the house and my wife is on the first somewhere. I'm
too lazy to walk down and hate shouting. I want to pick up the
iPhone and use it as a walkie-talkie.
Then I would try to just multicast it, and see how it goes. Note that
the app needs to
join (listen) to the multicast group as well as send.

I'm trying to think big, though, and envision scenarios where groups
of people can talk amongst themselves.
Thanks, Joel
