Honestly, I just need an app that I can use on my WLAN. I'm on the second floor of the house and my wife is on the first somewhere. I'm too lazy to walk down and hate shouting. I want to pick up the iPhone and use it as a walkie-talkie.

But her device would have to be running the app when you called (and I think it'd have to be left unlocked, too.) That doesn't sound too practical, especially since your main competition is a built-in app that already does this, and additionally makes the other phone "ring" no matter what app it's currently in. :)
