You might have more luck getting the dump over FireWire; there are various situations (for example, problems with the Ethernet driver itself) where Ethernet will fail but FireWire will work.

If the Mac doesn't have FireWire, I believe you can do this stuff over the Thunderbolt adapter.  I've not investigated the kernel core dump side of things, but kernel debugging certainly works that way.

Beyond that I'd recommend you post to the darwin-kernel list.  Those guys live'n'breath kernel debugging, something I no longer do [1] )-: (-: [2]
