XML import weirdness
XML import weirdness

I've got a customer who is using our MovieLogger software to produce XML files for import to FCP. For a while he's been reporting that importing the XML produces two copies of the clip which then behave very oddly. However, if he imports the XML into a new project and then copy/pastes the clip into his main project, the problem does not occur.
So I got him to send me an XML export of his entire project and (to my surprise) was indeed able to replicate the issue on FCP5.1.1: - When the XML is imported (which contains a single clip), two clips are shown in the browser. - Both clips are tagged as master clips, however renaming one also renames the other...which makes no sense. - The selection behaviour is also weird. Clicking on the first clip does nothing. Clicking on the second clip, selects the first clip and when the mouse is moved off the second clip, that also becomes selected. Deselecting All, leaves the second clip selected, until you mouse over it and it becomes deselected.
I'm confident that it is not a problem with the XML files we're creating since doing an immediate XML export/import on a clip in the project produces exactly the same behaviour. I also tried creating a new project and copying/pasting all the clips in the hope that it would fix stuff. Unfortunately it didn't.
I know it's a long shot but has anyone else ever experienced this issue? I'm presuming that the project has got corrupted in some way but it seems surprising that this corruption has survived both an XML transfer and copy/paste into a fresh project. Martin Baker www.digital-heaven.co.uk |
