FWIW If you have FCP5, there's a sneaky trick you can use to do this:
- Select the source clip in the Browser - Choose Modify > Make Multiclip Sequence - Ensure that "Automatically edit new multiclip into a new sequence" is checked and click OK - A new bin will be created which contains the multiclip. You don't need this so delete it. - A new sequence is also created which matches the settings of the source clips. - Rename this sequence, delete the clip and you're all set.

Is there an easy way to create a droplet that would analyze the format and settings of a clip, and spit out an XML file that would contain the dropped clip in a bin, and an empty sequence in the correct format?
Does somebody know an XML ninja who could do something like that?
Many thanks,
Mike
