Is it just me?
Couple tips....
1. Modifying the settings within Compressor and saving them often results in the setting not getting updated correctly. No idea why that is, but it tends to be the case. I grabbed one of the streaming h264 presets (I think) and modified it. Fast start seemed to work well.
I'm no longer using the web review tool though - I'm integrating a CMS system (alfresco) and using Flash to display the videos (H.264), so fast start is irrelevant now for me, especially once I add in Flash Media Server to the mix.
2. Interlacing. When you modify the setting, adjust the Frame Controls so that you are using better or best for the various settings on deinterlacing (motion, adaptive). That I've been struggling with myself because I haven't been able to get Compressor to actually perform that magic. Might be user error on my part though.
Related question to anyone using FCSvr and Compressor - has anyone successfully gotten Compressor to create a preset where the video is resized by a maximum dimension? IE, no matter what the resolution of the video is, make it 400 wide (or whatever width) and automatically resize the height to what is proper for the aspect ratio.
Doesn't seem like this common, obvious method of resizing mixed resolution clips is even supported. Pretty cheese if you ask me. Doesn't help much with the web review tool when you want your videos to be displayed at their proper aspect ratio WITHOUT letterboxing. BTW, if I do get success I'll be sure to post.
