I don't know if this is the list to post this on but I'm curious to see if anybody else has seen this before I file a bug report.
We're doing some FCP plug-in development and noticed that sometimes FCP 6.0.4 produces XDCAM HD clips with severe macroblocking.
Our source material doesn't seem to have anything wrong with it, it comes off of a Sony XDCAM HD deck into our system (not using Sony's XDCAM Transfer), where our software wraps it as MOV. This MOV plays back properly in VLC, QT, FCP etc.
However, if we take this clip into FCP, and re-export it, there is macroblocking at various places in the clip, mostly near the middle. I'm pretty confused by this as I thought FCP doesn't re-encode XDCAM HD if the source material matches the timeline settings. The MOV produced by this process shows macroblocking in VLC and various other video apps based on different playback libraries, but NOT in QT or FCP, so if there is a bug I can see how it was missed.
Anyone seen this?
