A feature request / comment / suggestion would be that everything that
supports images/video in the suite should support FxPlug -- the last
thing we need is each application supporting their own SDK, particularly
now that Motion, FCE/FCP support a common API for that. It should remain
the responsability of the third party to see if something works in a
given host, as in there is no guarantee each host would support all
features, and as well there is a suite extention sort of mechanism for a
particular host to open more of it's specifics, and at least like that
the base common framework of plugin binding, parameter description and
clip handling is commonly covered. Foreward thinking is it's no excuse
to say that some product has a complete different history, since FxPlug
is absolutely as well not FCP native to make the case. Also the usual:
an API is just an API, it takes years to round off the bugs and maintain
it, on both side of the fence. Also at Siggraph after a bit of chatting
I realize there is a new reorg affecting FxPlug layer which includes I
believe a software manager (that replaced Dan), a new dedicated engineer
that replaced Dave Howell, and part-time marketing support which is a
bit less defined now as function I suppose when Apple doesn't do trade
shows... My vote would be to have that little structure internally sell
to product management of the other elements of the suite like Color the
need and value of a common API :)

I am looking into developing a plugin for Color, but can not find any

I have looked in the plug-in directory inside Color for examples, but
the format of the .nod files tells me nothing.
Is there an SDK for Color, or is it all private?
At this time there is no SDK for Color, and no way to create 3rd party
effects for it.
