That's only telling you, if you're calling that method, that it could disappear in a future OS release. It shouldn't presently be an issue, tho.

I'm hoping this rings a bell with someone -- if not, I'll post some more details...

I think that's a red herring. A more useful thing to do would be to provide a piece of your crash log that at least shows the exception and the backtrace for the thread that crashed.
