Another Final Cut Server Question

Currently Final Cut Server supports Motion Projects but is incapable
of producing proxy files for them. The thing is any computer with
quicktime and motion installed is able to do a realtime preview of
motion xmls and compressor can even render directly from motion xml to
other video formats.
I would really like to coerce Final Cut Server to be able to preview
and create proxy files of motion documents. I have tried changing
mimes to no avail. All of our motion XMLs use relative URIs and the
referenced media exists in the same directory as the project file.
If I change my client computer's motion project association to always
open with quicktime, and then I make sure to cache any referenced
media from final cut server, I can then preview the motion project in
quicktime.
Its a very impractical solution since we are working with literally
hundreds of thousands of motions xml files. It would be nice if Final
Cut Server could look and see if any reference media exists on the
server and cache it automatically.
I was thinking that maybe I could have an external script run all my
motion documents through compressor to generate the proxy media, but
there doesnt seem to be a way to associate proxy media with source
files outside of FCServer's default automated process.
any ideas?
thanks,
ryan
