Hi, no flames but:
1. A rank-and-file Apple employee will not EVER comment on the future
of a product. Are you sure you're thinking of the same company?
2. Motion strikes me as being very much a pixel-oriented program, not
vector, and not very programmable
3. Particle Illusion is indeed very amazing. Only a little more
amazing than it was when I first saw it 5 years ago in Combustion, and
ten years ago when it was first released. It doesn't have anything to
do with motion, necessarily.
(You might want to take a look at Quartz Composer ... these are old
