Re: Motion XML

What I've concluded after reading the Motion XML is that it is a great format, and it's provision of detail unique.

Speaking strictly from the stand point of future 3D use, I am particularly interested in what I believe in the very near future will be a Motion Player.

One that supports both the Open .SWF format and plays Flash files automatically, but goes one beyond that and plays what could be called ".AMF" or something of the sort (.Shock-wave Flash Format; .Apple Motion Format; etc.).

By the way, none of my discussion is an attempt to gain information about any future product.

And as it stands, I believe Motion XML is likely going to be here for a while, which was the purpose of my previous post.

One thing I'd like to add to the "Comments Box" for Apple though is, I've become fairly familiar with the Motion XML file and factory elements etc.

What would be ideal is to have a scripting format, obviously perhaps AppleScript, which could be attached to elements in order to behave at runtime.

Now I've just read the document, so if I'm missing something, I welcome a kind comment filling me in on what I may have missed in a few days preview of the doc.

But to perform in simulation reactively (when speaking of graphics), or to communicate over http using RESTful services that parse XML, all of that is not such a bad idea.

The fact is, Adobe, since acquiring Macromedia has become more aggressive towards it's developer community.

The obvious reason why is the notion that "AIR" (which is really just the same browser flash, but running with some specific "out of sandbox" capabilities for file access etc. in OS X, Windoze, and Linux) could be, if they are willing, the dominate lightweight OS in the long-term future.

That's why I'm encouraging some of the discussion I am. Motion 3 and Apple are at a great place in time that won't be here another year or so from now.

And out of all of the OS's I've programmed for, Mac OS, WIndows, and what will soon become it's own lightweight Pseudo operating system with Virtual Support --- The only company to remain a cordial attitude with it's development community in this relevant area and comments above, are FutureWave, Steve Jobs' towards ADC's and Macromedia. Now that Adobe has Macromedia, I believe, and you can mark my words, that they will be striving, initially in unison, but in the long term for their own superiority using AIR, and perhaps some future deal for a Server and virtualization services.

Apple can pre-empt all of this by an Apple, as I said .AMF player, that would support iPhone, Flash, etc. but most of all, all operating systems with their own type of AIR, and then go one further and add the sparkle that SilverLight, whether it does or does not, will not be trustworthy of a company such as Microsoft.

This is the Pro-Apps-Dev list. Everything I've discussed has a huge impact in the convergence of media in the future.

I welcome any information I'm missing, and I welcome anyone who thinks I'm wrong (in regards to the future anyone can be, but time and time again I've had people tell me that I had enough in-depth knowledge of a broad spectrum of products at a low level and a higher level of the "game" that I have been far more correct than not; that's not pompous arrogance; I have many weaknesses; but it's fact...there's some big changes coming down the road and regardless of my support of Adobe in certain aspects, I do not trust by any means the way they have high- jacked the FLEX Developer Community, I know all the arguments, and some have even been verified by others I won't speak of, but Adobe has never been the best development company, and they are now a new-born with Flash carrying around a big stick of arrogance when it comes to Scene7).

The Scene7 comment has been attempted to be debunked several times; but the fact is, they have a small business version to. And they have plans after that. They won't go as far as Mickeysoft in betraying developers by copying patents before products are even released, but I do believe they are becoming more aggressive (which is fine) but not against it's own development community. I did a lot of research on this, and I do not have the same trust for Adobe that I had before. I do trust Apple. I do trust Jobs' (not to kiss up but because I've followed his career, and the words that come out of his mouth are not arrogant as they are with Ballmer and the actions taken like Gates, who commented once to a reporter, "What's your advice for Jobs" he replied "Learn to program" and this from a QuickBasic programmer speaking of a man who has delved deeply into the Mac OS in former years).

I'm looking forward to Motion 4 already, and _yes_ using Wondertouch Emitters release specifically for Motion 3 Piers....you should see them, they're incredible in 3D.
