We've just run into an odd "anomaly" with exporting XML from FCP, specifically Motion Templates/Master Templates (could FCS 3 harmonize the naming convention??)
What works: 1 Opening a Motion Template from the Viewer window's Generator menu and dragging the clip from Viewer to Bin/Browser 2 Opening the Motion Template palette from the Sequence menu, which puts the clip in the Viewer, where it's dragged to a Bin/Browser 3 In the Effects tab, double clicking the Motion Template to open it in the Viewer, and then dragging it to a Bin/Browser.
In all these scenarios, the template exports correctly into the XML.
However...
4 Simply dragging the clip item from the Effects tab to the Bin/Browser shows no useful detail in the XML. In fact, attempting to export that clip alone will result in no export - the Export > XML menu item is active, but no dialog opens and no export is possible. Putting the Master Template clip into a Bin allows an export but the XML has no useful detail.
Obviously the workaround is clear and not onerous, but this can't be planned behavior, could it? Or am I missing something important?
