Darrin - thanks so much for taking this seriously.

It's very simply - a manner in which to pull all associated defined paths from the preferences file and all asset file paths from the session files.  This would make assigning the paths in plugin and external helper tools much more simple and robust.  The clip/asset paths (POSIX or absolute) in the session file would make archival, batch processing and consolidation of those files by external processes much more exact, as well.
