Thanks for the prompt reply.
I don't believe that it's possible at this time. Custom UI in FCP's windows won't take keyboard focus. You can provide a button which pops up a modal dialog under your control, and accept keyboard input there, if that will work with what you're trying to do.
I see other people have made plugins in the way, we're after creating plugins that fit right in to the interface. I realised a custom NSView subclass wasn't getting keyDown: and keyUp: events, so it's good to know current behaviour.
We're aware of the issue but have not found a resolution yet.
Is it likely to appear in an update to FCP and/or the FxPlug SDK? Would it help in any way if I report it as a "bug" here:
