Many people write apps that modify FCP projects. They work by having FCP export the project, their app then modifies the XML, and then FCP imports the modified XML. There is no way to modify the XML before it gets to disk, but I'm also not seeing why you would ever need to do that, since you can modify it once it's on disk. Maybe if you elaborate on what you're trying to accomplish we could help get you there?
Darrin Oh, bummer. So just to clarify. I can't write a plugin that would create new menu items that would do an export and import. The .fcpxml is what we need though, but we need to actually edit that .fcpxml before it is saved to disk. If there is no way, that is fine. I just need to verify that it is not possible. Thanks again!
