And to be clear, I'm told that:
we do have MPEG-1 codec support if the file is in a QT .mov container. (There are some MPEG-1 based camcorders that are supported in this way.)
But that if it's a .mpg file, there's no way to support that directly in FCPX.

But the answer to the second question is that there is a list in the documentation:
Darrin FCP-X 10.0.7 does not import MPEG-1 files. Is this true in general for FCP-X or is there a special component available which enables FCP-X to import MPEG files ? Also , is there a list available which type of files FCP- imports and which one not ?
