So we hit this problem a lot:
While FCP is running: Customer installs our product, which installs templates to use an FxPlug plug-in from within FCP X. FCP X immediately sees the template, so user applies the template for the plug-in to the footage. Problem is this: the FxPlug dynamic library is not loaded, so no parameter settings are shown. User wants to know why they can’t get our plugin settings to show up.
This is a very common occurrence. And it frankly makes it confusing for the user.
This is another reason to either support FxPlugs as first-class citizens in FCPX, or to somehow make it clear to the user why params are not being shown (which is something that has to happen on the FCP side, because at this point our actual plug-in code has not been loaded), or to also scan for new FxPlugs when something new shows up template library.
