Title: Microsoft Word not saving to leopard server
Try saving locally to the desktop first and then drag files to
the server….(I know with Adobe they recommend saving local and then backing up
to the network)
Also, from what I know from Photoshop which can throw the same
error, the document thumbnail is open in the OS and not allowing you to save….also
try turning off coverflow and or thumbnails and use list view and see if it
clears the problem…that’s why Adobe created Bridge…it was to get around the
icon.dll problem that Microsoft refuses to correct….

"
But what about you and your organization? As you get bigger and older, are you
busy insuring that a bad thing won't happen that might upset your day, or are
you aggressively investing in having a remarkable thing happen that will
delight or move a customer? Here's a rule that's so inevitable that it's
almost a law: As an organization grows and succeeds, it sows the seeds of its
own demise by getting boring. With more to lose and more
people to lose it, meetings and policies become more about avoiding risk than
providing joy.":

Subject: [Rockies-Edu] Microsoft Word not saving to leopard server
My students are constantly getting an error
message stating that their file is open elsewhere when trying to re-save their
documents to our leopard server. We use WGM with individual logins and managed
preferences. The client machines and server are running Leopard 10.5.8. We are
using Office 2008. I cannot find any solutions through the Apple
discussion lists or Microsoft websites. Help would be greatly appreciated.
