We have just started seeing this issue under Leopard. Essentially our
errors have been similar to the ones described below. Could this
actually be an AD issue rather than (snow)Leopard issue? Our error
number is -1309. I haven't tried to unbind anything yet, but I'll give
that a try.

Subject: [Rockies-Edu] Problem saving files to Windows servers on an
ActiveDirectory bound Mac running Snow Leoaprd
Hello Rockies Edu List,
I wanted to let you all know about a problem we have been having
upgrading to Snow Leopard. I have been getting weird errors while saving
and uploading files to a SMB shares running on Windows Server
2003 and 2008 machines from any Mac running Snow Leopard AND bound to
our Active Directory system. I have confirmed this on many machines with
both clean installs of Snow Leopard and upgrades. Unbinding from the
Active Directory makes the issue go away so long as there are no mobile
user accounts remanning on the machine. If there are mobile user
accounts on the machine deleting them in system preferences makes the
errors go away so long as the machine is not bound to our AD.
Here is what the errors look like when using a Server 2008 machine:
When dragging a file from my local machine to the server I get the
message "The Finder can't complete the operation because some data in
"Testing.doc" can't be read of written. (Error code -36)" <Error
1.tiff>. Even though I get this error message the file is still actually
on the server where I told it be. If I was trying to put multiple files
on the server I would find that after the error message comes and I saw
okay up the only file that is actually on the server then is the one
referenced in the error message and all other files failed to copy.
If I were to open say a word document store on the server and then edit
it I get an error message when trying to save that file back.
There error message reads "Word cannot save or create this file. The
disk may be full or write-protected. Try one or more of the following:
* Free more memory. *Make sure the disk you want to save the file on it
not full, write protected, or damaged. (Testing.doc) <Error 2.tiff>".
This happens to be the file that I uploaded the get the first error
message screenshot but this would also happen for a file that was
already there. The only way to save the changes are to save to the local
machine and then put the file back up on the server. I get similar
errors when trying to save using other programs such as Pages and
TextEdit.
On another server running Windows Server 2003 I do not get the error
message while copying files but I do still get the same error while
trying to edit documents.
Just for clarification everything worked fine under Leopard. I would
love to know if any one else is having this problem or has even found a
solution. I opened a support case with Apple a couple of weeks ago and
they are looking into it.
