Very funny, yes. But there are some things Jon's book does that "current systems" can't duplicate:
- - he can loan it to somebody who can read it and learn from it without having to think about
licensing issues;
- - he can sell it - along with access to all information it contains - without a special agreement
with the authors and publishers;
- - he can bequeath it to descendants, friends or charities, again with no thought to licensing issues;
- - he can gift, buy, sell or rent it freely;
- - he can be reasonably sure that the information it contains will still be readable (annotations
even!) for centuries, if not millennia, provided some common sense care;
- - he can be sure it will always be available for perusal, provided he takes reasonable care not to
lose it - the material will always be there, errors, blunders, political incorrectness, etc., and
Amazon will never be able to censor, update or yank it out of his possession;
- - he can read without electric power of any kind.
Not to mention that he can use it to prop up a short table leg, hold a door open, learn proper
runway posture, use as a paper-weight, burn it for fuel, use the pages as napkins or cleaning
tissue, sit on it if his chair is not adjustable; there are countless applications...

On Unix, I am limited only by my knowledge.
