Eric,
You don't have to add computer records ahead of time. If it's the
scripts you're needing, let me know and we can get those for you.

Mary, thank you for the information but I cannot really use that as a
solution to my problem. I am trying to write a script that our help
desk
students can run to do initial setup and AD/OD joins. I don't have
the time
to deal with the overhead of creating accounts in advance and the
systems
need to work without delay.

Yes, you can do an unauthenticated OD bind and manually configure
computer
records in OD.
Go to WGM and create a computer record for the Mac before binding in
OD.
Bind the Mac (using the Mac's computer name) without authenticating.
You can
just point it to the OD server.

Also, I would ask about the need for an authenticated bind?

Hi Eric,
To my knowledge, the answer is no. You can have tiered
administration
when
it comes to workgroup and user management, but not the binding
process.

I am a very new to OD, so hopefully this is any easy question.
Is there a way to create a limited account that can only add
systems to
OD?
I don't want to put a diradmin or similar account in a script to
bind
systems. We have an AD account that can only add systems to the
domain,
so
hopefully we can do the same with OD.
Thanks,
Eric
