I just wanted to let everyone know about my 10.6.4 update experience. We let the system do the delta update on Friday as always and the install went fine. However, Monday rolled around and our dual boot systems (10.6 and Win 7 64) would freeze at the Bootpicker screen with the spinning beach ball. We had to hard reboot the systems to get them usable again. They were fine for about 30-45 minutes and then would freeze and drop off my ARD window. We have 50 systems total with 34 being dual boot and the rest just OS X. The OS X only systems haven’t crashed once. There appears to be a problem with 10.6.4 delta, Bootpicker, and possibly Endpoint. Fix: - Permissions repair - Install 10.6.4 combo update - Permissions repair - I also removed Symantec Endpoint because it was new for this image. I did disable the software via the console, but the systems still crashed. 27” iMac 10,1 – Core 2 The only plus side is that we just started using Deploy Studio and it has saved my bacon by speeding up the image process over SIU. Thanks, Eric |
