I'm with Gene, DNS. Google has as load balancing scheme that rolls server ip's. When they determine a sever is over loaded they change the ip to another server. If the gApps client doesn't request new DNS then it has problems. For example, people who use Apple Mail run it to this problem when they have long uptime's in Mail. Apple Mail, and many other email clients, only request DNS from the system once at first run. So if there is a IP change to the mail server then they must restart Apple Mail.

Subject: [Rockies-Edu] Xserv 10.5 and GoogleDocs/Calendar
Hi,
I am having a strange problem occur with osxserver 10.5 and Google.
The Problem: Every 2-3 weeks we are seeing GoogleDocs and GoogleCalendar "lock" up in our school environment. Meaning that calendars within Google Calendar will time out and never show up, Google Docs will time out and never show up. The following services are being run on our xserv at St. Anne's
AFP DHCP DNS NetBoot NFS Open Directory Software Update VPN Web
The "Fix": By simply restarting the xserv, all access to Google is refreshed and works great. I have not been able to troubleshoot which service may be causing the problem since it only happens once every 2-3 weeks.
Solutions?: Could this be a cache thing? Would an upgrade to 10.6 server fix this issue? Are one of the services like DHCP getting locked up and a restart clears the "issue"? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone
