Posting this question again from last week to see if anyone has any input.
This may have been addressed in a prior message and if so let me know
which day and I'll pull from archives.
We are investigating installing Apple TV units in classrooms. There is a
problem however with 802.1x authentication once a profile has been
uploaded to a unit. The problem isn't technically an issue with 802.1x
but rather with the time and date settings on the units. See this thread
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4360024?start=0&tstart=0 What is
needed is a solution that doesn't require an ethernet cable plugged into
the units any time they are restarted. We need authentication to occur
but right now the apple TV will look for time servers before doing
anything else. Without an ethernet cable plugged in, you'll just sit
there spinning until the unit times out and it will not connect to
wireless.
