We have been using the Apple program for three or four years too, we have never actually received any credit from Apple, I guess our equipment has always been to old, but it's a good program, and it's free!
For all other equipment we use a local vendor called Blue Star in Colorado Springs. We have done community recycling events and have opened it up for everyone in the neighborhood. It has been very successful and we have been able to raise some money for our HS environmental club and given the community a place to get rid of old electronics.
Manitou Springs School District is a member of SEC (State Electronic Challenge) and we have received the gold award three years in a row. We are also a member of the Colorado Environmental Leadership Program, and we are currently at the silver level. Please let me know if you like any information about these groups, they have great webinars and support, if your school district like to go green!
