This would be great if the email came out earlier. I didn't receive the email from the list until almost a full day after the Java 7 Update 15 was blocked. Is this the same for everyone? Our whole district found out the hard way that update 15 was blocked long before this email came out.

As most of you know, Apple has been proactively blocking the java and flash web plug-in vulnerabilities through a "safe downloads list". This setting on 10.7+ machines, is in System Preferences -> Security & Privacy -> Advanced -> Automatically update safe downloads list. Apple highly recommends that you keep this protective feature turned on. To stay up to date with these updates, I would recommend that you subscribe to the Apple Security Announcement mailing list. Thanks Cory,
The Apple wording is a little confusing. In the first part it is clear that those versions of Java and earlier are blocked and in the second part is says "versions of Java older than" but really means "versions of Java including and older than". The point is the versions identified are also blocked.
Rich
