As most of you know, Apple has been proactively blocking the java and flash web plug-in vulnerabilities through a "safe downloads list". This setting on 10.7+ machines, is in System Preferences -> Security & Privacy -> Advanced -> Automatically update safe downloads list. Apple highly recommends that you keep this protective feature turned on. To stay up to date with these updates, I would recommend that you subscribe to the Apple Security Announcement mailing list. This list will be updated with the latest security announcements/information from Apple. Below was the email that was sent out yesterday to this list:
--- APPLE-SA-2013-03-06-1 OS X: Java Web plug-in blocked
Due to multiple vulnerabilities in:
Java 6 update 41 and earlier Java 7 update 15 and earlier
Apple has updated the web plug-in blocking mechanism to disable versions of Java older than Java 6 update 41 and Java 7 update 15.
CVE-ID CVE-2013-0809 CVE-2013-1493 ---
Thanks, Corey
