Thanks for the information, Kellie! I wasn't aware the amendment had been introduced and am hopeful that this will come to pass. I found a link to the bill to amend the HB12-1240 language as noted below, and it falls under HB13-1219. That bill has passed the House, but is still in the Senate. Since it's still in the Legislature, it has not amended the law, unless I'm misreading the documents below. Until that amendment passes, my understanding is that the law modified with HB12-1240 (and requiring device filtering) still stands. http://openstates.org/co/bills/2013A/HB13-1219/-Erik

FYI: our CIO told us that the state law was changed last month due to successful lobbying by CASE. Here is the info. we received:
The CDE clean up bill was introduced today. Here is the new language for the technology intent safety. It extends the date AND eliminates language requirements.
1. SECTION 15. In Colorado Revised Statutes, 22-87-104, amend
2. 13 (1) as follows:
3. 14 22-87-104. Adoption and enforcement of policy of internet
4. 15 safety for minors including technology protection measures - public
5. 16 schools. (1) No later than December 31, 2012 2013, the governing body
6. 17 of each district shall adopt and implement a policy of internet safety for
7. 18 minors.
The following language that was passed is now struck, so you don't need to worry about this part anymore:
that includes a technology protection measure for each technology device provided by the district that allows for access to the internet by a minor from any location.
