Hi Shahin, You can prevent the removal of profiles (which of course doesn't prevent completely erasing and reloading the iOS device to get around it). If you go into a profile, in the General section, scroll down to "Security." If you choose "Never" or "With Authorization," it will prevent profile removal. In our district, we normally recommend "With Authorization" so we can remove a profile with a password if it's causing a problem syncing with Configurator. Hope I understood the discussion on that correctly in your second paragraph. -Erik

Thanks Corey,
But I think you are misunderstanding the problem. I am not concerned with users individually updating to iOS 7 (although that IS a separate concern too). I am talking about setting up new devices through Configurator. Somehow this got past engineers at Apple. You should not FORCE people to upgrade new devices when setting up in Configurator, specially in an education/enterprise environment where version control is critical.
And BTW, we do certainly hope that Configurator 2.0 will allow us to lock down supervised devices completely as it should! Supervision right now is a joke as users can basically pretty much do whatever they want, including removal of profiles, etc. Configurator is in need of some SERIOUS love from Apple. We have been told it's coming, so we are hoping for an early XMAS present soon. ;-)
