Happy Friday, everyone. There have been some developments around security, privacy and the health app in the past week or so. With all of this information up to date and relevant with iOS 8 launching on Wednesday, I wanted to summarize.
It is important to note that Apple is rejecting apps in the App Store that attempt to store health data in iCloud. Data transferred from the Health app to a hospital or EMR app must be granted on a per-app basis. The HealthKit guidelines are here.
It’s also important to note that while iOS 8 did ship this week, the Health app had a remaining bug that will prevent HealthKit-enabled apps to ship right away. That issue is to be addressed by the end of this month.
Have a great weekend!
