- Thread-topic: Important Updates from Apple
Hi Everyone,
I hope you are all doing well and the start of school has been quiet.
Yesterday Apple made several important announcements. Some of these directly apply to Education customers, while other announcements are more consumer orientated.
Knowing that my emails can be a little “long", I wanted to provide a EDU NEED TO KNOW section and a broader, general interest section.
EDU - Need to Know.
1. Apple has updated the iPad product line.
Minimum memory configuration on all devices now starts at 32GB, which is great news for Education since the minimum memory configuration required for Shared iPad is 32GB.
The iPad Air 2, 32GB, Wi-Fi only is now $399.
2. Apple Teacher Program (NEW).
The Apple Teacher Program was created to help build skills and keep teachers inspired. This is a free program offering teachers training on Apple products and provide ideas on how to get the most out of the Mac and iPad in the classroom.
Please share this information with the Professional Development teams, Curriculum leads, TOSA’s and teachers within your school and/or district. There is a wealth of information available and something I am really excited to see available.

3. iOS 10 will be available on 9/13. More information on iOS 10 can be found here. http://www.apple.com/ios/ios-10/
4. macOS Sierra will be available on 9/20. More information on macOS Sierra 10.12 can be found here. http://www.apple.com/macos/sierra/
5. iWork will be updated soon, supporting real time collaboration capabilities on Mac, iPad, iPhone and iWork for iCloud. The iOS iWork apps tend to be larger sized apps so please be prepared for distribution.
6. In the next few weeks I will provide an update on the “Everyone Can Code” content. Please encourage district and school personal to register for one of the three events being offered this November.
