Imho, it's a LOT faster than developing anything in other ways. I've
done a fair amount of work on other kinds of web apps.
Can you say that with a number or in amount of time? Maybe - as a rule
of
thumb - it takes only half the time, or something else?
Just based on having implemented things of equal complexity as what
I've done so far: at least twice as fast. And that's not knowing WO vs.
knowing, say, PHP.
I haven't done enough WO to know if that number holds up, but, from
what I've heard from others before, there's significant gain.
I should add that I haven't done work with some of the web application
servers (such as WebSphere) that are in Java, though I've done work in
Java servlets and other web application servers.
The number of good examples for newbies is really sparse and most of
them are rather clunky imho.
That's exactly my problem. I have to find some more (good) examples for
using the Java Client (I have already checked out the samples
delivered with
WO).
WO still seems to be something learned mostly by apprenticeship, which
makes it seem more arcane than it is. I'm looking forward to the books
coming out, especially mmalc's.
