java 1.4 solaris memory issue

Earlier today there was a note about a memory bug associated with Java 1.4 on Solaris. Is the Java 1.4/Solaris memory allocation/freeing issue specific only to WebObject 5.1.x on Solaris with Java 1.4 or is it a more general Java 1.4 bug on Solaris? Does WebObject 5.2.1 address the memory issue?
We have been running WebObjects 5.1.3 on Solaris using Java 1.4. We deploy our WebObjects application as a servlet under Oracle's 9iAS. We experienced the application freezing after having run for about a month under heavy use with lots of database activity (reading and writing). The error logs were not preserved so the cause is a mystery. I was wondering if it could be this memory issue. Where can I found out more information about the memory issue?

thanks,
-tom
