Seth,
May I humbly suggest you look over at O'Reilly's Mac DevCentral? The
beginnings of a series of articles I'm writing are there, and the
target audience is pretty much you.
The first article is here:
<http://www.macdevcenter.com/pub/a/mac/2003/07/22/cocoa_series.html>
and the second one should be up very soon.
The basic idea is to get people from the point you're at: "I don't
know any language at all, but want to program" to a point where
tackling real Cocoa programs is feasible. Toward that end the series
starts at the very basics. Take a look; it might be what you need.
Just wanted to thank you (and everyone else who has suggested your
article to me in response to my requests for help).
Indeed, I've had a read, and it looks like it's the beginnings of
exactly what I need... the only problem being that you've only just
begun, while I'm keen to learn faster than you're likely to be writing
the rest...
No problem... In the meantime, I've got myself a book ("SAMS Teach
Yourself C in 24 hours" by Tony Zhang) and am pursuing it's teachings,
but I couldn't let this go by without saying a thanks and noting that
your articles look like they're going to be great.
I suspect if I was starting this process in... say a year from now?...
instead of now, then your articles may have been all I needed.
I'll be looking forward to the rest of them. Thanks again!
Cheers!
David.
