Someone asked why bother doing a meetup with a few local developers rather than continuing on this mailing list.
Also, if the idea is to meet WO developers then to do it at WWDC where we'll meet hundreds rather than the
paltry two or three locally.

I guess I never explained what the http://webobjects.meetup.com was about. I'd forgotten that in this time crunched
world I'd have to convince people to hit the site. Let me sum it up.

It's a way to arrange to meet, in the real world, other people with similar interests. You arrange a venue
(such as a local coffeshop or pub) and you meetup there once a month to BS about your common interest. There are
meetups for all kinds of things. My POV is that it seemed a nice mechanism to find out where WO people are
in the world and a chance to actually meet some.

Meetup is not really any sort of discussion board. This mailing list is great fun and amazing source of
information. But it just isn't the same as setting across a table from Chuck and having a pint (or latte). (Unfortunately, even with meetup I won't be so lucky judging from where he is). Heck! we might even manage to talk about something besides WO in a pleasant environment.

As to the other point: I would love to meet up with people on a more ongoing basis than a conference once
a year 3,000 miles away at the cost of close to $3,000. I might be able to do it monthly at the local
bookstore for the cost of a pint or latte.

In sum, it's a mechanism for finding people who are within commuting distance that might be interesting
to meet with. It's more like the bulletin board in the public library that has a sign:
WebObjects developers unite! Coffee every tuesday at the Y.
