I have to disagree with you Karl. I am running into all sorts of
problem with the "new" Panther deployment. I have converted a machine
that has been running stable for over a year from Jaguar to Panther
server and I cannot stabilize the Monitor.
Quite a few things have changed in Panther and it is not well
documented. WOtaskd and Monitor now run within the appserver user and
group this mean that we cannot deploy monitor within monitor anymore. I
now start the monitor with the startup script but it regularly crashes
with a "Too many files open" message. The worse part is that I have not
figured how to restart it easily. I have had to reboot that machine way
too often.
I am now looking at JBoss deployment.

No, standard WebObjects Deployment should be preinstalled on Panther
Server. However, wotaskd isn't started by default (you need to edit
the file /System/Library/StartupItems/WebObjects/WebObjects)
Also I'm having a hard time locating instructions from Apple on using
WebObjects with 10.3 server. Are there any other resources that
people have found useful?
Other than the above, a standard WO deployment should be the same as
Jag Server.
