Is webobjects a framework or a web application server or both. I guess it is both.

It is several frameworks that implement common functionalities of dynamic Web applications including object-relational access of relational databases. It also includes a Web app server. Or it can be used to develop a Web app that is served by J2EE app servers. As such, it can act as a container for Enterprise JavaBeans or as a servlet within a servlet container. It can be used to develop a Web app that provides or consumes Web services.

So WebObjects provides a lot of bang for the buck compared with many competing technologies.

Could you please compare webobjects to weblogic or/and websphere?

Someone more familiar with WebLogic and WebSphere will have to comment. I think I can state with some confidence that WebObjects' licensing cost is MUCH less.
