Failure to open database channel on Windows 2000

I've just installed Webobjects 5.1 on a Win 2000 Pro machine. When I
try to run any app that access a database, I get the following error.
Server exception: _obtainOpenChannel --
com.webobjects.eoaccess.EODatabaseContext
com.webobjects.eoaccess.EODatabaseContext@75d6ab: failed to open
database channel.
This happens with any app, whether it's one that I generate from the
Wizard or it's one of the example apps. EO Modeler accesses the
databases (both OpenBase and Oracle), without problems but any app that
uses the same model gets the above error.
Anyone have any insights.
