I think Apple is now rather aggressively targeting businesses using
Unix/Linux/Solaris (and MS) type servers. I imagine that with the new
G5 CPU, a new line of rack mounted servers is around the corner. It
only makes sense that they target these businesses with technologies
known to the administrators. Which sounds better to someone who has not
heard of WO and is unsure about Apple as a Unix platform:
"High-performance Java application server Mac OS X Server is now the
easiest way to develop and deploy applications build using Apple's
WebObjects..."
or
"High-performance Java application server Mac OS X Server is now the
easiest way to develop and deploy applications based on Suns J2EE
(Java 2 Enterprise Edition) standard. It features a built-in JBoss
application server for running J2EE applications, including Enterprise
Java Bean components..."
Whether we like it or not, WO does not have the market share to make OS
X. Being able to run JBoss does. Still, you are right, Apple should
make an effort to market WebObjects. There seems to be absolutely no
marketing here down under. This has been the situation here for years.
