Hi

I am a newbie with WO. Actually I'm still in the evaluation process but
I'll start soon getting into it. It looks very promising :-)

Hi (2),

If you don't know Eclipse (http://www.eclipse.org), visit their web site. It's a very nice alternative to XCode. XCode isn't a nice solution for WO. But, it isn't the subject of this email.

In Java client, Apple uses Swing, the worst java solution for me. SWT, the UI framework of Eclipse, is a good cross-platform solution. For example, with Swing, an open panel is the same in all platforms. But wouldn't you like rather to use the Cocoa open panel in MacOS and the XP panel in Windows?

I already read this opinion about Swing vs SWT. Could you elaborate please? my experience is too limited so I need other people's advice. Is SWT superior to Swing in your opinion only (or mainly) because it complies better to the host OS or are there other reasons as well?

Personally I try to make my apps with the same look and feel on the
different platforms. I know it's not trendy but I want the users to have
the same experience whatever the platform and therefore be comfortable
if they have to switch. Therefore it seems Swing is for me, isn't it?

TIA

Nick
