Oh please, what one can do with their tools depends entirely on their

I believe IntelliJ is written in Swing. They have managed to create on
of the nicest GUIs and fastest Java apps I have seen yet on Windows
and Mac (yes, I have tested the product on both). I also agree with
other comments here, the fact that IntelliJ (Swing) looks almost the
same on both platforms is a big plus for me (as I have to switch
between Mac and PC every day.
I chime in again for a question. Please correct me if I am wrong:
** the default GUI for Java client with WO is pretty basic, isn't it?
** you use Swing if you want something more sophisticated or is it
included in WO as the default tool?
I develop databases in C/S environment (with 4D sor far) and usually I
try to do user friendly, good looking, intuitive, yet simple GUIs.
Nothing fancy but it's personal and I want it to look the same on all
platforms. I want the user to be with me rather than with Bill Gates or
Steve Jobs ;-)
For a future project I'll need more sophisticated graphic capabilities:
I plan to create something looking pretty much like EOModeler's Diagram
View with boxes and arrows the user can move around. The attributes
filled in will be linked to the database content of course.
In you opinion, is Swing the right tool for this purpose?
If not, what else?
So I am happy that you find SWT great and thanks for pointing it out
to us, but to lobby for Apple to adopt it over Swing is a bit
ridiculous. Lobby for support for both Swing and SWT and then we can
take you seriously.
This sounds quite fair.
