No. I don't see where you're coming from. The WO/EOF frameworks
themselves could be written using only 1.3.1 API, but also written so
that they worked fine under 1.4.1. It was CLOSE to being this situation
already in 5.2.1---they could have just fixed it so it WAS this situation.
Maintaining backwards compatbbilty would have prevented APPLE from using
some of the new features of 1.4.1. The reason WE wanted 1.4.1 is so WE
developers could use 1.4.1 API. We would still be able to do that.
Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't expect WO to support both 1.3.1 and 1.4.1
_indefinitely_. But at least ONE release that supported both 1.4.1 and
1.3.1, so we could transition much more gracefully, would have been very
welcome. And, frankly, probably would have been provided by another
vendor of a similar product.

You mean PBWO still runs on Windows (PBX is what we've been calling the
OSX PB). Yes, I mean if you want to use 5.2.2 on an OSX (rather than
Windows) development box, you are required to upgrade to Panther. To be
clear, I should add on the restriction "if you want to use it with Apple
provided dev tools". I hadn't thought about Eclipse. I suppose it might
be possible to use Eclipse with 5.2.2 on OSX. There also MAY need to be
some changes made to the Eclipse build scripts and such for WO, I have no
idea. At any rate, honestly, when we tried to get Eclipse up and running
ourselves, specifically for multi-platform collaborative work, we never
could get things working. If you didn't care about the multi-platform
thing, it might be easier.
