Is the coloumn 'class (obj-c)' of any importance when working with
java?
No, it is not relevant. There *is* a Value Class (Java) column, and
it *is* relevant. I'll suggest that you do this in EOModeler:
1. Click on the colum heading where it says Value Class (Obj-C). This
will highlight the column.
2. Press the Backspace button. This will remove the column from the
view.
3. Find the Add Column... dropdown control (near the middle of the
window, at the bottom, left of the top pane).
4. Drop down the Add Column... control and select Value Class (Java).
to this i'd add
5. Drop down the Add Column... control and select External Type
6. Drop down the Add Column... control and select Value
these will tell you your db-type and an "esotheric" value,
respectively, which tells EOM exactly how to handle the atribute (time,
date/time, date, and so on).

It will make a lot more sense from then on! :-)
