Of course. Just because localhost.paranoid() returns true doesn't mean that user.you.outToGetIt() returns false. :)

(Sorry. I had to.)

I have the Mac OS X firewall running (System Preferences -> Sharing), and I haven't had any problems as long as I keep Personal Web Sharing (80, 427) open. Of course, I'm only accessing it by using Xcode's 'build and run' command, so it pulls itself up in the browser automatically. If you're trying to connect to a running application, the WO deployment list might be more helpful.

This looks like a TCPwrappers error message. What platform are you running
on?

Mac OS X.

In many unixen, look in /etc/hosts.deny

There's no 'hosts.deny'. I already created a 'hosts.allow' myself, with "ALL: 0.0.0.0 : ALLOW" in it: to no effect.

is kept for the MacOSX & Server.

:-) Me too, I don't know.
There's no manpage and nothing. At least, I couldn't find one. Not even with apropos.

Looking into the preferences, I see, I have no firewall running.

TCPwrappers is a firewall of a sort.

But where could I turn it off or allow everything?

Thanks
Phil
