WOCookie question

Do i really need to use DirectAction and
reuest().cookieValueForKey("mycookie") to get back mycookies? If really so, when i travel from component A to B, in component B
i need to get the cookievalue, do i access a directaction class in component B, if not what is the
standard way of doingthis. thanks :-)
