Hi,
For the mapping between object and relational database, I think that
Java is better than Objective-C (I know, few of you think the inverse).
The reason is bytecode. You can manipulate the bytecode to add this
feature to your code at runtime. Aspect Oriented Programing (AOP), with
instrumentation, is a powerfull solution for your purpose. Visit the
Hibernate web site to understand the beauty of this concept.
I'm a WebObject developer, and I think that WO was the best persitence
solution before AOP. Now, WO is only the best solution as a powerfull
alternative of JSP/Struts.
PS: switch from MS-SQL to database on MacOS X! ;-)
Good luck.

There's GNUstep's GDL2 <http://www.gnustep.org/developers/suite.html>,
of course. It claims to be API compatible with EOF/Obj-C just before
it disappeared. Some of the developers obviously use it for commercial
code so it lacks some error handling but should work reliable if you
do it right.
I managed to compile it on OS X without gnustep-make and gnustep-base
by using Xcode/ProjectBuilder. For setting up the EO/GDL2-Models you
can even use EOModeler.
Sounds good, but it does not seem to support MS-SQL (nor FrontBase). Or
have I overlooked something important? Did anybody make a MS-SQL
adaptor which I've missed on the GNUstep pages?
